Of Drugs and Dogs

A few years back, my mom urged me to consider training to become a Pharmacy Technician. After looking into it, I decided it was not the career for me.

“I’m not good at math,” I said. “What if I give someone the wrong dose?”

I just finished feeding the dogs their dinners. By the time I handed them their bowls, Toby’s body trembled as if seizing, and frothy gobs of foam dripped from his jowls.

Why did it take so long?

First, I prepared Leah’s meal:
2 cups of Canine Caviar.
1200 mg Fish Oil capsule to fight inflammation
1 Phycox soft chew to fight inflammation
.6 mg Soloxine tab to boost her low thyroid levels (stuffed inside the Phycox chew)
Warm water to wash it down

Then Toby’s: (The easy one, surprisingly, since he used to be the ‘sick one’)
2 cups of Canine Caviar
1200 mg Fish Oil capsule to combat his allergies
Warm water to wash it down

Finally, I made Meadow’s concoction:
1 ¾ cups of Canine Caviar
1200 mg Fish Oil capsule to boost her immune system
250 mg Clavamox tablet (wrapped in cheese) to fight a suspected bacterial infection
1 Probiotic tablet (also wrapped in cheese) to replace the good bacteria that the Clavamox kills
25 mg Phenylpropanolamine tablet to treat her incontinence (I needed to halve a 50 mg tablet)
½ heaping tsp of Solid Gold Berry Balance Supplement to lower her pH levels
Warm water to wash it down

For breakfast tomorrow - a repeat of the above.

Hmmm….is there a school for Veterinary Pharmacy Technicians?
