Meadow's surgery went smoothly today, and we will be picking her up this evening when her vet feels she is ready to be released. Aside for the one confirmed mast cell tumor and the second nearby lump on the same leg, all of Meadow's other lumps and bumps that I was concerned about looked great. I'm short on time today, so I'll just quickly tick off the list of what was done:
Our vet removed the mast cell tumor on her leg, as well as the smaller one mentioned above, and both of those will be biopsied. The mast cell was located in her skin and came out easily. The nearby one was set in the muscle and a little harder for him to remove, but it is gone all the same.
The weird one on her belly appeared to be a cyst upon removal, but our vet is sending it out to be biopsied at our request - just to be sure.
He also removed the little bitty one in her armpit, felt it was definitely a cyst, and is not biopsying it.
The one that made me nervous on her lip was an infected pustule, which he also removed.
The two skin tag looking things on her muzzle were indeed skin tags, and he cauterized those.
The little black mark on her leg is just that, a little black mark. He left it alone.
The rice shaped one in her ear that has never changed is being left as is, unless it ever changes. It is in an awful to remove area of her ear, and our vet feels since it hasn't changed in a year and a half, it should be fine. Nick and I are going to measure it and keep a close eye on it just to be sure.
And I think that about covers all of her lumps and bumps....
Now we just have to make sure that she doesn't lick anything open and wait for the biopsies to come back, but for the most part, we received lots of great news today!! Can't wait to get her back home where she belongs. Thanks everyone for all of your well wishes, they obviously did some good.
