Do You know what Chukar is?

December 13, 2010 06:27 by Donna

Last night we went to our Vizsla club Christmas party and we all brought a dish to share. When I entered the kitchen for my second helping of some awesome stuffed mushrooms, one of the other guests observed, "Did you know they have Chukar in them?"

I shook my head, figuring it was some sort of spice, and asked, "What's Chukar?"

She replied, "That's exactly what I asked," and then she went on to explain...

Appparently, a Chukar is a type of game bird that they use to teach the Vizslas to hunt with. Appparently, they are also quite tasty. My husband and I eat Venison and other wild game, so it didn't really affect me. But when I mentioned it to Nick in passing, another guest overheard, and promptly scraped off her dish into the trash.

Oooops. Guess I should learn to keep my mouth shut! But at least, now I know what a Chukar is.
