....not me.
But...I'm happy to say, Kristie W., the winner out of nearly 15,000 entries in the Blogging Fundraiser to Benefit Animals contest, donated the charity portion of her winnings to the Leon County Humane Society - and just as I hoped, the money is going to a dog related cause! In addition to dogs, they also help homeless cats, as well as small animals like rabbits, gerbils, and hamsters.
Congrats to Kristie W. and the Leon County Humane Society!!!
Although I couldn't help the Vizsla Club of Central New England like I had wanted, by winning them some much needed cash, I'm looking forward to seeing how many items Nick and I collected for Kent Animal Shelter. I made a collection box, which only took me about ten minutes to do - I just drafted a quick paragraph with some basic information about the shelter, printed three copies of the sign, and taped them to the sides of a fairly large box:

Toby helped, of course.
Where are all the donations?

I'll just lie here, and wait for them to appear...

But knowing Toby wouldn't get many donations on his own, Nick took the box and put it on display at his Dojo for the month of December, along with fifty printed copies of Kent's wish list:
The following are items we are currently in need of in the Adoption Center,
Kennel and Cattery:
Dry Cat Food – Purina Cat Chow
Canned Cat Food - Fancy Feast, Friskies or Nine Lives Pate
Kitten Food – Purina Kitten Chow
Dog Food – Purina or Pedigree Dry & Canned
Puppy Food – IAMS dry and canned
Folding Chairs
Gently used blankets, pillows, bedding, sheets
Kongs
Large Vacuum Cleaner
Nyla Bones
Paper Towels
Kitten Formula “KMR” Powder
Clorox Wipes
Clumping Cat Litter
Kitchen Sized Garbage Bags
Small Vacuum Cleaner
High Efficiency Laundry Detergent
Toys
Large Wagon
Mops
Yesterday’s News Cat Litter
Baby Gates
Temptation Treats
Pig knuckle chews
Large value coupons or any “one free” coupons
Plastic Containers/Jars that can be used as Donation Boxes
Gently Used or New Office Chairs
Fans
Kitten Bottles
Human Baby Food (chicken preferred)
And the donation drive was a huge success! Nick informed me that he had to empty the box into his trunk three times, because it was overflowing. All those generous donations, just because we left a box in plain sight and handed out copies of a premade list - how easy was that? I can't wait until Nick brings home the final load on Friday, so we can see how many items from the list the shelter received. Then we'll bag it all up and drive it over to Kent either next week or the week after, so they can start putting all of it to good use.
