A Dashing Duo in Need of a Home

December 8, 2011 08:53 by Donna

UPDATE - These dogs were adopted - and they remained together!

This pair of Vizslas who are in need of a new home really touched my heart. Sadly, their owner lost his job and his home, and had to place them in rescue. Rather than turn them into a shelter, he took the responsibility of using his dwindling funds to keep them in a kennel while contacting Vizsla rescue. But this also meant that two dogs who were used to all the comforts of home, including sleeping under the covers with their owner in bed, had to stay in a cold, barren kennel environment which was heated only by a wood stove.

If you know Vs, you know how much they must have shivered.

Luckily, they have now found themselves a foster home, but are in need of a permanent one. The VCLI would like to place them together. Here is what Stephanie Fischer, the president of our club, had to say about them:

Meet Remington and Rusty. They are 8 and 9 year old lovely neutered boys, who I had the pleasure of meeting yesterday. They entered my yard with no problem, and played with Cliffy and Jake beautifully. [her own dogs] They were very friendly and warmed up to me immediately.  I had no hesitation about kissing them on the face. They are good with children, love to lean on you (typical V) and love to give kisses.  They are crate trained, UTD on their shots, know basic obedience and are quite lovely. Their owner did a beautiful job with them all these years and my heart is breaking for him. The best way to describe them is both are older, calm and would make a great addition to any family. They are really nice boys.

If anyone is interested in these two wonderful boys, please contact Stephanie Fischer at the Vizsla Club of Long Island.

That's so awful- poor guys! I can't imagine losing my job, home AND also my pups- I'd be devastated.  Hopefully somebody can keep them while their owner gets back on his feet and can take them back.

Poor babies! I hope they find a good home, if they were a bit closer I'd see if my aunt would have a spot for them, she's owned and shown Vizslas for years.

It just about breaks my heart, and I'm sure their owner must be devastated.  Here's hoping they find a place soon.
